Scuba Diving in India

To Explore the deep mysteries raving inside the underwater world has always fascinated mankind. The joy of floating inside the sea like a fish where every creature is your friend and every new sight is a discovery can be immense. There can indeed be no parallel fun and thrill than just observing the rich natural flora and fauna in their traditional habitat mirroring the rich nature bestowed on Earth.

Scuba Diving in India

Human civilizations association with underwater and the curiosity circumscribing it is age old, with numerous historical stories and mythological links dedicated to it. There is a legend about Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean) that tells us that the sea was churned around a hill known as Meru with a snake (Sheshnag) around it. The gods pulled one end of the snake while the other end was pulled by the demons.

Coming to the Scuba Diving destinations in India, it is believed that more secluded and unexplored the region is, the better scope it offers. The scuba diving and snorkeling adventure in India involves two Tropical Island destinations of the country - Andaman / Nicobar and Lakshwadeep, which have caught the attention of divers from around the world for their remoteness and rich bio-diversity.

Andaman nicobar Islands located in the Bay of Bengal are home to one of the richest coral reef Eco-system in the world. Andaman & Nicobar Islands have attracted divers from west and across. The untarnished world of Underwater that is homes, is indeed a life time experience to harness.

Scuba Diving in India

Lakshwadeep Islands popularly known as Lacadives, the waters of Lakshadweep Islands are completely untouched and pure, some even totally unexplored. Kadmat Island is one destination of Lakshadweep that is embraced by a lagoon that stretches across its western shores and sweeps over the northern tip to the east.

As far as the nitty gritty's of Scuba Diving requirements are concerned, not much is required, except that one should be physically fit with a good amount of stamina. The minimum age required for the same is 10 years and there is no age bar on the higher end.

Wet suit (breath depending on the water temperature), fin, tank, mask, snorkel, a knife, a pair of leather or canvas gloves, underwater flashlights for night diving, dive tables, and dive watch are all the necessary equipment required for the purpose.

Apart from Andaman islands and Lakshwadeep, Goa fascinates a large number of professional divers across the world, as it is said that the kind of untamed underwater world it offers is similar to that of Maldives. India is fast becoming the adventure tourism destination of the world; and scuba diving and Snorkeling as well as other water sports are going to be an integral part of this.
