Kangra Town Tourist Attractions are South of Triund, lies the ancient town of Kangra, 17 km from Dharamsala and overlooking the gushing torrent Ban-Ganga, reached after passing through beautiful valley that has the luxuriant and luminous quality of a Kangra painting.

Brajeshwari Devi Temple is situated in Kangra town. This temple was once filled with a legendary fortune in diamonds and pearls. Chintapurni is exactly 80 km south of Dharamsala, and Trilokpur have famous stone temples.

Kangra valley, is an ideal country for adventure and sports activities like mountaineering, trekking, rock climbing and fishing, it is this valley which witness annually hang gliding rally.

In the month of May and June a tented colony is set up by Himachal Pradesh tourism to facilitate hang-gliders. At this time all the roads lead to billing.

Most of the treks in Kangra valley start from Dharamsala, Palampur or Baijnath are of 5 to 8 days duration and ultimately terminate at Bharmaur and Chamba, over the majestic Dhauladhar ranges. Most of the treks are operational from May to October.

The regional mountaineering centre at dharamsala provides technical know-how and equipment besides organising adventure courses.

Rishikesh Trekking- A complete tourist destination

Rishikesh is a famous tourist destination for Indian tourism. It is the starting point of some of the great adventure trekking tours of India and has several ashrams, the renowned centers of philosophical study, yoga and meditation.

Dal Lake-Srinagar

Haven't you heard about the famous Dal Lake of Srinagar. The Dal Lake is the main beauty of Srinagar, and especially the Shikara sailing beautifully on it makes it a spectacular scene. The Dal Lake is connected to a number of other lakes of the Kashmir valley. The Dal Lake has approximately 500 Victorian-era wooden houseboats built on it. These houseboats were originally built as vacation homes for British administrators during the British Raj. Dal Lake is divided into four major basins called Gagribal, Lokut Dal, Bod Dal and Nagin. The overall area covered by the Dal Lake is approximately 18 square kilometers.

The basin Lokut-Dal, of Dal Lake has an island in the center named Rup Lank or Char Chinari. Bod-Dal also has an island in the center known Sona Lank. There is a line of visiting places all along the shore of the lake. There are places like Mughal-era gardens, parks, and hotels. The lake sometimes freezes in the winter season. The Dal Lake last froze in January 2006 when the temperatures in Srinagar fell to minus 3.2 degrees, which is 1.2 degree less than the normal dip. Before that the lake had frozen in 1994. The flora found at the lake are lotus flower, water lilies and water chestnuts. The fauna found include birds like kingfishers and heron.

The other attractions apart from the houseboats, the Lake and Waterways, include kayaking, canoeing, water surfing and licensed angling on the lake. But in spit of such splendid attractions the tourism industry suffered loses from 1980s and 1990s due to the militants and terrorist attacks. In the 21st century, the Indian government took steps to minimize these attacks, thereby increasing the security at Srinagar. This led to a slight improvement in the profit of the tourism industry in Kashmir.

The Dal Lake is the first lake in the world that has wireless internet connectivity. This facility was implemented at the lake in November 2003. The lake has been affected in the recent years due to uncontrolled macrophytic growth, which led to the presence of exotic species like azolla , salvinia etc and silt.

Adventure Travel In Jammu and Kashmir

The Indian state collectively known as Jammu & Kashmir is a disputed territory of India. Pakistan wants right to rule it and China too is on the look out to capture it. The state has three main regions: Jammu, Kashmir Valley and Ladakh. Jammu is a place known for its temples, shrines and other pilgrimage places. Kashmir Valley also known as Paradise on Earth is known for its enriched beauty and enchanting landscapes. The state of Jammu & Kashmir has an area of 222,236 km sq (85,806 sq mi). Its largest city is Srinagar and the winter capital is Jammu while the summer capital of the state is Srinagar. The state has 22 districts. Its population is 10,069,917 and population density is 45.31 /km sq (117 /sq mi). The languages chiefly spoken in the state are Urdu, Kashmiri, Dogri, Pahari, Balti, Ladakhi, Punjabi, Gojri and Dadri, Kishtwari. Urdu written in the Persian script is the official language of the state. The Governor is Narinder Nath Vohra and there is President's Rule in the state.

Jammu & Kashmir was established in October 1947. Jammu was named after the Hindu Goddess Jamwa Mata and was founded by Ramchandra Ist, while Kashmir was derived from Ka meaning water and Shimeera meaning to dessicate so the word Kashmir means dessicated from water. Kashmir was in the history called Kashyap-Mar and Kashyap-Pura in honour of the sage Kashyapa who drained the lake to form the land of Kashmir.

There are many valleys in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. The main valleys are Kashmir Valley, Tawi Valley, Chenab Valley, Poonch Valley, Sind Valley and Lidder Valley. Jhelum, Indus, Tawi, Chenab and Ravi are the major rivers that flow through Jammu & Kashmir. The population in Jammu & Kashmir mainly consists of Muslims that make almost 66.97% of the total population. Hindus are 29.63%,while sikh, buddhist/other people make only 2.03% and 1.36% of the total population.

The three major regions of Jammu & Kashmir are further divided into 22 districts. Jammu & Kashmir have 10 districts each under them while Ladakh has 2 districts under it.
