Batote is a town and a notified area committee in Doda District of Jammu. It is located at the coordinates 33°06′N 75°19′E / 33.1, 75.32 and has an average elevation of 2,006 metres (6,584 feet). Batote is located on the National Highway that connects Udhampur to Srinagar. If one drives from Udhampur to Srinagar on thr highway then Batote comes after the tourist spot of Patni Top, which is also has its boundary with Udhampur District. After Patni top there is a sharp descent to Batote. Batote has some rich agricultural land and is just near to the Chenab river.

BatoteAccording to the 2001 census Batote has a population of 3733. Males constitute 55% of the population and females 45%. Batote has a literacy rate of 71%, with 60% of the males and 40% of females literate. 8% of the population is under 6 years of age. Batote is famous for its high quality kidney beans or Rajma. Jammu Airport and Jammu Tawi Railway Station are the nearest access points. Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has its route through Batote.
